Careers at Kapoose Creek Bio
Working at Kapoose Creek Bio
Kapoose Creek Bio is developing a new approach to drug discovery—one grounded in natural chemistry and accelerated by computation.
We explore the vast diversity of compounds produced by living systems and apply machine learning and advances in OMICs technologies to identify those with therapeutic potential. Our work brings together biology, chemistry, and data science to uncover signals that traditional approaches often miss.
We are a small, focused team working across disciplines, with a shared goal of translating natural insights into meaningful advances in human health.
Interdisciplinary by design
Our work sits at the intersection of computation and experimental science. We collaborate closely across domains.
Driven by evidence
We prioritize scientific rigor, clarity, and reproducibility in everything we do.
Focused and ambitious
We pursue difficult problems with a long-term perspective, aiming to uncover opportunities others overlook.
Open Positions
Neurobiology Lead – Drug Discovery
Scientist to VP level | Full-time
Location: McMaster Innovation Park, Hamilton, ON (On-site)
The Opportunity:
We are seeking an exceptional scientist with deep expertise in neuroscience and neurobiology to help expand our capabilities in complex neural systems and advance our growing pipeline.
This is a rare chance to work at the frontier of natural product drug discovery, contributing both at the bench and, depending on experience, at the level of scientific direction.
This role involves collaborating closely with our interdisciplinary team across microbiology, chemistry, and biology. You will design and apply advanced neural and neurobiological assay systems to evaluate the activity of novel compounds, build mechanistic insight in disease-relevant models, and contribute to targeted therapeutic strategies for neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.
This may include work in areas such as:
- Neuronal cell models
- Synaptic biology
- Neuroinflammation
- Functional modulation of neural circuits
Depending on your experience, this may extend to helping shape experimental and program strategy.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- PhD or postdoctoral training in neuroscience or a related field
- Strong experience in neurobiology and in vitro or ex vivo neural model systems
- Background in neurological disease is preferred
- Track record of impactful scientific work in academia or industry
- Experience in phenotypic screening, electrophysiology, high-content imaging, multi-omics, or drug discovery is an asset
Why Kapoose Creek Bio:
We are a dynamic, highly collaborative organization working at the interface of biology, chemistry, and AI, with a shared goal of unlocking new regions of natural chemical space for therapeutic discovery.
If you’re energized by that challenge, we’d love to hear from you. The title and level for this role will be aligned with experience and our existing team structure.

Associate Scientist (Fermentation & Natural Products)
Early-career | Full-time, laboratory-based
Location: McMaster Innovation Park, Hamilton, ON (On-site)
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a hands-on, highly motivated microbiologist to support our microbial fermentation and natural products workflows. This role is ideal for an early-career scientist who enjoys working at the bench and is excited to contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative biotech environment.
In this position, you will execute microbial fermentation experiments across a range of scales, working with both liquid and solid-state systems. You’ll prepare media and cultures, carry out routine microbiology assays, and generate high-quality experimental data to support ongoing discovery programs.
The role also offers exposure to adjacent chemistry workflows, including basic compound isolation and analytical support, providing a unique opportunity to work at the interface of biology and chemistry.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in microbiology or a related field
- Hands-on microbiology laboratory experience through coursework, research, or industry
- Familiarity with microbial culturing, fermentation, and standard lab instrumentation
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Interest in learning new techniques and contributing across functions
Why Kapoose Creek Bio:
We are a dynamic, highly collaborative organization working at the interface of biology, chemistry, and AI, with a shared goal of unlocking new regions of natural chemical space for therapeutic discovery.
This is an opportunity to gain meaningful experience in drug discovery while contributing directly to active scientific programs. If you’re energized by that challenge, we’d love to hear from you.
