Build a Discovery Organization. Shape a Pipeline. Help Define a Company.
Kapoose Creek Bio is building a next-generation small-molecule discovery company.
Our platform combines natural product chemistry, AI-enabled phenotypic profiling, metabolomics, genomics, and translational biology to discover differentiated therapeutics from fungal biodiversity. We are advancing our lead neuroscience program toward in vivo validation while building a growing portfolio of novel opportunities in oncology and other therapeutic areas.
We are seeking an exceptional scientific leader to build and lead our Discovery Biology organization during the next phase of the company’s growth.
The Opportunity:
This is a rare opportunity to join the executive leadership team of an emerging biotechnology company and play a defining role in its scientific direction.
Working closely with the CEO/CSO, you will:
- Lead biology strategy across the company’s discovery portfolio.
- Build, mentor, and expand a high-performing biology team.
- Drive programs from early discovery through lead optimization and toward development candidates.
- Integrate biology with medicinal chemistry, computational discovery, pharmacology, biomarker development, and translational science.
- Establish external scientific collaborations and oversee CRO partnerships.
- Help prioritize a growing portfolio of therapeutic opportunities and contribute to corporate strategy.
- Represent the company with investors, partners, scientific advisors, and the Board.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for an accomplished drug discovery leader who combines scientific excellence with outstanding leadership and sound strategic judgment.
You will have:
- A PhD, MD, or equivalent scientific training.
- Significant experience leading drug discovery programs within biotechnology or pharmaceutical R&D.
- A track record of advancing innovative therapeutics from discovery toward IND-enabling development.
- Experience building and leading multidisciplinary scientific teams.
- Strong expertise in translational biology and preclinical drug discovery.
- Experience managing external collaborations and CROs.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment.
Experience in neuroscience drug discovery is highly desirable, particularly experience developing novel CNS therapeutics. However, we welcome exceptional candidates whose leadership experience has been gained in other therapeutic areas and who are excited by the opportunity to help build a broad discovery platform.
Why Kapoose Creek Bio:
Our ambition extends well beyond a single therapeutic program. We are building a discovery engine capable of generating multiple first-in-class small-molecule therapeutics from one of the world’s most distinctive natural product collections.
This role offers the opportunity to shape scientific strategy, build an outstanding biology organization, and make a lasting impact on the future of the company.
